Ca Cycleworks technical partner Guy Martin and his company had a great race meeting at the Parts Canada Road Race Nationals first round. With a talented rider piloting the way, Martin's well prepped Paul Smart 1000DS broke the lap record by over 4 seconds and won by 7 seconds. See the bike on Ducati North America's website. The Canadian Thunder class includes air-cooled twin cylinder motorcycles from Ducati, BMW and Buell and has a 3.85 pound per HP limit. Even with the standard rev limit of 8500 rpm, it was difficult for Martin to limit the 386 pound PS1000 to 101hp. As part of racing this series, Martin will be developing an intermediate option to his normal Testarosso headwork for the 1000DS to deliver less power. This approach is unique to the 1000DS of the 2V family, as the heads are good enough as delivered to show promise and not require the all out build as with the 750, 800, and 900. The exhaust system shown was developed by Guy Martin and after more testing, will join production alongside the racing Supersport system we have in development at our Los Angeles manufacturer. In other exciting news, Guy mentioned the fantastic results from his testastretta work on a 999. The bike started at 116 rwhp and with Guy's Testarosso head conversion, european S cams, and stock bore high compression pistons, achieved an astounding 149 rwhp with 86 ft-lb of torque! With some prep, he took a standard 999 to the "Crankshaft" numbers of a 999R!
